Over the last few days the construction of a fairy house has reached a whole new level. Maybe it is the dry climate of New Mexico, the plethora of uncomfortable looking rocks, or just a desire to take things up a notch. Whatever it is these fairies are livin' the high life.
The bathroom is complete with sink, tub and toilet, which is out of view for privacy.
Other features include flowers, a ladder, and a special bridge laden with crystal rocks.
A clothesline...
And no outdoor living space would be complete without table, chairs, and a chicken feather umbrella.
It began with the moving and organization of some big rocks and continued when they came to me with supplies in hand asking for the glue gun.
At one point my little man leaned in close so his older sister could not hear and asked me to leave something... "To pretend the fairies really did visit."
With these accommodations I think they just might visit and stay awhile!
~~~
Once they got started the inspiration continued with this book my mom had gifted them many moons ago.
Plans are in the works for a swing and a few other necessities like a garden and fairy sauna! Livin' the high life I tell you!
Do your kids like to build with Mother Nature's art supplies? What do they build?
Oh Dawn, that umbrella is just too much. These are fabulous. No, my kids have never shown an interest. They are more of the hole-digging types, even my daughter. But it might develop, who knows?!
ReplyDeleteThat umbrella is over-the-top. I love it too! Maybe our kiddos would be inspired by a fairy house book too? They are fun!
DeleteDawn, this is great! I love the wonderful details of the fairy home. I must say that their chicken feather umbrella is much more lavish than our regular porch umbrella. Perhaps I should give the the Hookah-Smoking Caterpillar a call and see if he can shrink me for a bit! ;)
ReplyDeleteOur yard is slowly getting transformed. Today, hopefully, we will get to the medicine wheel garden creating! I have found a place for our fairies to visit and once we utilize some of our moss (which our yard just loves and makes in abundance) we will have a soft landing spot for them.
Hugs to the kids! Let me know if you spot any fairies in the night! :)
Well, I think a super sized version of this feather umbrella would be just the thing in your yard!
DeleteThese kiddos are missing the moss. It is so soft and cushy!
I would love details on the med. wheel garden. What are you putting in?
xo
I love it!!! We need to build a new one. We lost our old one in a hurricane and never rebuilt. My oldest sort of outgrew the idea and my youngest wasn't interested yet, but I'm thinking five is a ripe age and her imagination might be ready for it now. We just need to find a dog-proof location! :)
ReplyDeleteOh. Yes. You need a new one. Mine was worried about the thundershowers in the forecast so she brought it all in and set everything up in her doll house for now.
DeleteDog-proof location will be key :-)
Okay love the umbrella!!! And yes we love using Mother Nature's art supplies...fairy houses, rivers, teepees, stone sculptures...he loves it and I love watching it all come together.
ReplyDeleteIt is so fun to see just what they design with it all. They are naturals!
DeleteOh what fun! And such a great way to spread inspiration! I'll soon be sharing it with the boys. XO
ReplyDeleteHope they are inspired to build something. From the looks of it you have lots of Mother Nature's supplies on hand too!
DeleteThese are lovely! I love them. The boys love to build with outdoor things but I can say they never have gotten quite as adventurous as this. Simply divine homes for fairies. xo
ReplyDeleteThis is defiantly the most extravagant they have gotten with the nature building! It was very fun to watch!
DeleteThose kiddos of yours are so so so creative. They did an amazing job as well paying so much attention to detail. Thank you for sharing! :)
