Winter Fairies are here...

The winter fairies are visiting our little home nightly now.

It all starts on Dec. 1st. They help us count the days to Winter Solstice. They leave a little mitten with the smallest bits of treasure from nature... along with a picto rock.

Occasionally they leave a bigger gift such as the tiny top, that could have only been made in a fairy workshop, but mostly they share found items like shells, rocks, bits of driftwood, sea glass, or broken pottery.
They pass on "fairy pillows" as well... those tiny baubles of shiny, so brightly colored glass.

They have been visiting since my little lady was two-years-old and it is still a wonderful surprise for my now nine and six year-olds to wake in the morning to see what the Fairies have left for them. The first to wake waiting so patiently for the other to revive from slumber to share in the opening of the mitten.

A little spark of imagination and appreciation for the little wonders of nature in these dark days of winter.

Do you have any traditions the kids love this time of year?

    1. It is a wonderful little tradition here. We have a huge jar filled with years of fairy treasure... love looking at it.
