True Leaves...

It would seem that some seedlings in these parts are having some lofty ideas on become bona fide plants in the future. True leaves are unfurling, almost before our very eyes. And there are some pretty eagle eyes around here keeping watch over the progress of these little upstarts.

The kids monitor them at least twenty times a day to see how things are moving along. That is a lot of pressure but these little shoots are they are holding up well!

I think it is time to revisit The Gardener. I am sure Lydia Grace will have some inspiration for us going into this gardening season. My girl already has her very own plans for a sowing apron... she has designs on a flower garden to attract the bees and butterflies. A true entomologist in action!

Have a wonderful Friday & Easter Weekend everyone!

  1. Beautiful photos. We will be starting some seeds soon too. The snow is slowly melting away...
Thanks for mentioning The Gardener. I found it at our local library, along with The Library by the same author. Looking forward to reading both!

    1. Oh. Let me know what you think of The Gardener. It is loved around here. We have not read The Library. I will have to look for that... Have a great weekend Alex!

  2. Your plants are really coming along and I love your photos. I have plans this afternoon to put a lot of my wee little plants in the ground and start tackling the weeds that never seem to have any trouble growing.
    Have a beautiful Easter weekend.

  3. Beautiful photos. We will be planting some seeds this weekend, can't wait to get my hands a little dirty and feel the soil, even if it is just potting soil :)

    Have a great weekend.

    1. Thank Kim. Even potting soils works when it has been a long winter of waiting for something not frozen or muddy!

  4. Lovely to see this new growth! I had most fun the year I grew pumpkins and cantaloupe because you can almost literally watch them grow! But nothing came of them, so I won't grow them anymore, but I think anything that grows so fast is perfect for kids to watch and enjoy the progress!

    1. Yes. The kids have been having great fun watching the pumpkin plants grow and now the beans are blowing their minds. Growing leaps and bounds almost by the hour. Great fun!
Sorry no results with the pumps and melons! I know we could never grow melons in Nova Scotia. Too cool and growing season was just too short!
