Grandma's House

I took the kiddos up to my parents house for their 50th wedding anniversary party. We had a great trip and a wonderful visit.

My parents house is filled with curiosities big and small. Some of them have been around since I was a little girl, others collected long after I left home. Often they hold a bit of history, sometimes they are whimsical, rarely are they practical, but they always impart character and creativity.

I have shared before about the many ways my mom and I are different and "decorating" is no exception. I thought it would be fun to share a little glimpse of my parents house. The kids sure love to see all of the bits and pieces that make up Grandma's house!

I will be back this week with a little "Where Women Create" style studio tour and to share some of my moms amazing creations!

    1. Yes. This is why I have an aversion to dusting now. I can remember dusting while watching out the window while my brothers mowed the lawn... I would long to trade jobs with them :-)

  2. Lovely! My one grandmother collected all sorts of stuff and us grands would look and look and marvel at it all. Especially the breakables in china cabinets!

    1. Fun memories. I think it is much like being in a cozy museum for my little people. And they love history so it is fun!

  3. Happy anniversary to your folks, that is wonderful!
Your parent's home looks very pretty, but like Amanda, I wouldn't want to dust it all, I'm getting lazy in my old age ;)

    1. Thanks Tracey. They had a wonderful party with so many of their super nice friends. It was great to be there.
Yes. See my note to Amanda about dusting. :-)

  4. Wow, that's really fancy. I would be terrified to bring my kids there, so much to break. Your parent's house reminds me so much of my grandma's house. Only she loved green so her house often had shades of green in it. But fancy furniture, lamps, nicknacks, doilies, the works.

Thanks for sharing with us though, fun to peak into other people's homes!
