Make & Listen Along

~ On Thursdays I will post what I have been making and listening to as creations grow.
If so inclined post, on your blog or flickr, about what you have been making (on your own or with little hands by your side) and listening to while you create. It can be new music, flash backs, a song or a whole album... whatever you like. You can be stitching with needle & thread, yarn, paper crafting, painting, cooking... and beyond. Share what you are making and the tunes that are fueling your creativity. Then come back to my Thursday Make & Listen Along post and leave a link in the comments so we can be inspired right along with you! ~

On our road trip last week I tucked some cotton yarn in among the story books, magazines and snacks, thinking I would have plenty of time to knit up some dishcloths along the way. Over the years I have played around with different patterns and found I really liked both the seed stitch (knit one, purl one) and a simple rib stitch (knit 2, purl 2) for dishcloths. Between reading, sharpening colored pencils with my pocket knife (because someone forgot to bring his pencil sharpener) and gawking at the beautiful scenery, I knitted up four on the trip. I could not help casting on another to work on here at home, stealing away short moments to knit a few rows at a time. They area so simple, easy, and useful. Practical me can hardly resist.

I have some other fun and exciting projects going on that I will be able to share very soon!

Along with the usuals we have had a little kiddy music flashback with The Laurie Berkner Band playing while we were doing some making and game playing. Good times!

What have you been making?
What is on your playlist?

  1. lovely! I usually make the garter stitch one that starts in one corner and ends in another corner. That reminds me that I need to whip up a few.

  2. yay! I'm back! Every week I want to join in but I'm just not making much these days with my toddler who doesn't like to nap or sleep ever. :) Love these washrags! My mom and I crocheted a bunch of these one year for Christmas and I would love to do it again because they are just the best to clean with and so adorable. You've inspired me to try it again.

Have you discovered Fabric Town on Main St. yet? They had a good selection of yarn when I was there. :-)
Thanks for sharing again this week. Totally understand the issue of making time when little ones are not sleeping!

  4. I've been in the kitchen a whole lot! Making apple sauce, apple cake, apple everything! I've also been writing a lot. With the last day of Amanda's class I hope to keep writing. Now will be a interesting time to figure out how to balance writing, with sewing, and knitting and stamp making.
