There was a time when I would have told you that I really like cottonwood trees...
But now, now I am in the middle of a full blown love affair. (Yes, I freely admit to being a total nature nerd!)
I can't take my eyes off them; with their sunny heart shaped leaves and their towering trunks.
It is like the sun grew limbs and kissed each one with bright yellow droplets that blow and flitter in the breeze.
The dark crevices of their deep fissured bark make me want to reach out and touch them each time I stroll by, trying to contain my giddy self. (And not totally embarrass the children by taking too many photos of tree bark.)
The kids think I am a bit off my rocker. They think these trees are pretty neat too, but love, well, that is a pretty strong word!
But.
I am in love.
I am in love with these trees and thoroughly enjoying this uniquely yellow fall.
I don't think you're off your rocker, I am with you in drinking up nature's beauty :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Karen! Deep down inside they pretty much agree that nature rocks!
DeleteMMMmmmmmmm...... I think you have made me fall in love with them too. Right now I am all about the black oak tree but I am adding cottonwood to my list. Must head to higher ground, far inland to hunt some down.
ReplyDeletethanks so much for sharing this beautiful snippet of nature with the world. xo
Oh, just about any oak tree has my heart. Love oaks too!
Deleteim in love too:)
ReplyDeleteSun-kissed trees, indeed. Love!
ReplyDeleteTHE best time of the year indeed, if you ask me, what with all the amazing colours, the warm sun and cool breeze. Magical. Nothing better than being a part of it and you sure know how to do that!
ReplyDeleteI adore the cottonwoods too. I like to search for the biggest and oldest ones and imagine what they have lived through.
ReplyDeleteI can see why! They are breathtaking and your photos have captured that sunkissed fall beauty! Lovely!
ReplyDeleteYes! The cottonwoods are amazing and I miss them and their color.
