Make and Listen Along

~ On Thursdays I will post what I have been making and listening to as creations grow.
If so inclined post, on your blog or flickr, about what you have been making (on your own or with little hands by your side) and listening to while you create. It can be new music, flash backs, a song or a whole album... whatever you like. You can be stitching with needle & thread, yarn, paper crafting, painting, cooking... and beyond. Share what you are making and the tunes that are fueling your creativity. Then come back to my Thursday Make & Listen Along post and leave a link in the comments so we can be inspired right along with you! ~

This week I discovered something that I kinda already knew - I am indeed a special kinda nature hoarder.

I was going through some boxes still packed from the move, a hunt for little bits of iron pyrite I knew were tucked away somewhere; and found not one, not two, not even three, but four boxes of nature finds! They contained everything from feathers, to shells, to bones and so much more, including those pretty little bits of iron pyrite. Our very favorite pieces are out on display but I just knew there were some more cool pieces hiding out for just the right time to share with fellow nature lovers.

So, with all of this wonderful nature sitting there a little girl I know, who loves to organize and hates seeing beautiful nature things in boxes, stole away her favorite bits to add the her museum. (That would be her huge wooden doll house converted into a natural history museum.) Seems in this case the apple really does not fall... yeah!

Some of the other pieces were set aside to put into shadow boxes. There were little bags in the boxes containing nature from places we have visited, each without a label but I know where each one came from and having there very own shadow box is just what they need. That sounds like a winter project!

Yet still other bits were pulled out to share. As soon as I saw these mailing tubes Stephinie put together I knew we had to make and mail some nature away in them. We made up the first three, which went out in the mail yesterday... with more to come, or go as it would be.

Last night we did a fun flashback with the kids, who danced and danced and danced to some Stevie B, Exposé, and Jody Watley; while they looked on with both disbelief and laughter at Bananarama and Twisted Sister. Oh, the 80's!

Your turn.
Please share what you have been making and the tunes on your playlist. And don't forget to leave a link to your post if you played along so others can visit your Make and Listen posts!

P.S. We are having a giveaway over at Mud Puddles to Meteors. If you have a little rock lover at your house you might want to enter to win a box of rocks - including a piece of that pyrite I was searching for!

  1. Cool music. I still love the 80s music! My teens just shake their heads too, at some of the songs ;)

    1. Yeah, the 80's were pretty special. Although we don't wear a lot of bright colors ourselves we were talking about how we miss the more colorful outfits entertainers used to wear.
Thanks for joining in again this week.
