Make & Listen Along: Backyard Version

~ On Thursdays I will post what I have been making and listening to as creations grow.
If so inclined post, on your blog or flickr, about what you have been making (on your own or with little hands by your side) and listening to while you create. It can be new music, flash backs, a song or a whole album... whatever you like. You can be stitching with needle & thread, yarn, paper crafting, painting, cooking... and beyond. Share what you are making and the tunes that are fueling your creativity. Then come back to my Thursday Make & Listen Along post and leave a link in the comments so we can be inspired right along with you! ~

Today is Thursday, right? Yep! I made it on time!

This week most of the making has been outside. We I have been working in the garden. (The little man has been helping with the rocks a bit, but mostly keeping me entertained with stories of lego creation design plans! While big sister has been catching salamanders & dragonfly nymphs like it is her job.)

And oh, goodness the rocks! They range from small boulders to pea gravel. I almost went in to get the strainer yesterday when I hit a patch of gravel.

I have one bed pretty well combed over. I am going to hit it again so I can get it really clear for planting carrots and such. We don't want any more sexy carrots now do we! For the other beds I am going to use the lasagna garden technique to get them up and running without all of the digging. I will just have to plant shallow rooted plants in those this season. I am thinking all kinds of lettuce but I need some ideas for cold hardy shallow rooted veggies. Any thoughts?

Here is what it looks like at the moment, with my one rocky-less bed there between the wooden stakes.

Wes has been working on building a fire pit. It is coming along really well. Can't wait for the first fire!

To help Wes with the fire pit the kids and I have been gathering rocks from up in what has become known as the "rock quarry" up on the hill behind the house. There is actually a mini wetland between where I was standing for the photo below and those large boulders (which the kids call the rock gym, and play on them as such). We are planning on putting some boards down to create paths to minimize damage. There are cranberries growing out there too! Yay!

Below is a little perspective: Garden, fire pit, rock gym. Next to the garden is a strip of forest then the neighbors house, on the right is our house, and that pole there beyond the fire pit is for my clothes line (in need of repair!). From where I was standing when I took this photo we can see the bay as well. It is a pretty great yard and we have all kinds of fun plans for it!

As for listening... It has been pretty quite. In fact, I don't think the music has gone on even once this week. The birds have been keeping us entertained. Listening to them is always a treat.

I almost forgot! We are growing microgreens too! I shared about that over on Mud Puddles to Meteors

Your turn.
Please share what you have been making and the tunes on your playlist. And don't forget to leave a link to your post if you played along so others can visit your Make and Listen posts.

I have been trying to get around to visit your posts each week (sometimes it takes me a few days) and they are wonderful! Thanks, to all of you who are joining in and linking up!

  2. oh, the rock gym is great! we have what we call "scrubby"--it's wetland setback and we can't do anything in it. there's a stream in there that we can't get to--we're not supposed to make paths, and if we go in there, we will be covered with deer ticks. sigh.

  4. Oh my I can't even imagine digging into the soil here. It's all limestone and then rock. I'd have to amend the topsoil like crazy. Are you going to fence in the garden area do you have wild critters in the backyard?

I will come to visit you in NS one day. So pretty.

This week, well the book went live. I'm making myself a new purse, still working on a quilt for V and I took pictures of it all but didn't get the post up today. Listening has all been Sparkle Stories. So many Sparkle Stories.

  5. Wow! It's amazing how you rented this house online and ended up with a great yard for discovering and growing - so cool! Can't wait to see the garden grow - full sun is something I dream of - and that fire pit looks awesome and it's Xman approved (he has a bit of a fear of fire).

  7. You should see how my buddy Wesley Virgin's tale starts with this shocking and controversial video.

Wesley was in the military-and shortly after leaving-he discovered hidden, "SELF MIND CONTROL" secrets that the CIA and others used to get everything they want.

These are the EXACT same methods lots of celebrities (especially those who "come out of nothing") and elite business people used to become rich and famous.

You probably know how you only use 10% of your brain.

That's mostly because most of your BRAINPOWER is UNTAPPED.

Perhaps that thought has even taken place IN YOUR own head... as it did in my good friend Wesley Virgin's head 7 years ago, while riding an unlicensed, beat-up trash bucket of a car with a suspended driver's license and on his debit card.

"I'm so frustrated with living payroll to payroll! When will I become successful?"

You took part in those types of thoughts, isn't it so?

Your very own success story is going to be written. You just have to take a leap of faith in YOURSELF.

  8. I was diagnosed as HEPATITIS B carrier in 2013 with fibrosis of the
liver already present. I started on antiviral medications which
reduced the viral load initially. After a couple of years the virus
became resistant. I started on HEPATITIS B Herbal treatment from
ULTIMATE LIFE CLINIC (www.ultimatelifeclinic.com) in March, 2020. Their
treatment totally reversed the virus. I did another blood test after
the 6 months long treatment and tested negative to the virus. Amazing
treatment! This treatment is a breakthrough for all HBV carriers.
