Inspiration: Icicles & a photo scavenger hunt...

We have a great "cliff" in our backyard. The kids call it the "Cliff of Coal." It gained this name because they sometimes find bits of coal there.

Many moons ago the train ran to Halifax along the now lifted tracks. I can only imagine the stray bits of coal flinging off the coal car and tumbling down the hillside.

When the conditions are just right. When the temp is high enough for melt water to come running down the hillside but also cold enough to form ice... icicles are born.

They were born in multitude on this day and the sun brought them to life with a sparkly show.

Debi over at Go Explore Nature is having a Winter Nature Photo Scavenger Hunt. We have just checked icicles off the list... along with a few others. Head on over to join the fun and get a list of items to find this winter. Great inspiration to get out the door this winter.

  1. We love icicles, so simple and yet so beautiful. My little man likes to break them off and eat them :)

    Have a lovely weekend.

  3. What a great idea. I love assignments and the Hunt might be just the thing for my eldest daughter and I to do together on walks.
